Happy New Year !!! 2014

Another year flew by so fast, seems that way these days. The older you get the faster time travels. Kids all grown up right in front of your eyes. 2013 brought many new rejoices as well as some sick days, I am very fortunate that the positives out weigh the negatives. New experiences happened, never backing down. 2014 will be a interesting year, there are some big projekts in the works that I am really excited about, nervous at the same time, which is a good thing. Wishing you nothing but the best for the new year, believe in yourself, loved ones will be by your side no matter what, unconditionally.  Cheers to the new digits!

Nike Air Trainer 1 Mid 'Chlorophyll

Never did I imagine that in the year 2013 I would be buying mid Trainer 1's, silhouette that I adored as a kid/teen. This is one sneaker that I hope Nike will make available in various colorways for decades to come. This pair happened to get dropped off by the mailman the other day #Salute (yes, I'm hashtagging on my blog haha)

United We Sole \\ TLK \\ 09.15.13

Toronto Loves Kicks presented another chapter of Toronto's own Sneaker Battle United We Sole on Sunday Sept 15. Bringing back sneaker enthusiasts as well as entertaining new comers. Reuniting in the Great Hall, where the atmosphere was low lit, pumping with DJ Channel 9's hard hitting beats and sneaker lovers in every part of the 30K square foot venue. Throne Barbers were on sight fading & lining up customers, art displays were being shown & raffled, vendors promoting apparel and kids walking around with shoes in their hands looking to sell/trade was in full mass. As for the sneaker battle itself, individuals/crews brought their collections of kix, displayed for all to see & judge. Contestants brought out for show everything from original sneakers from way back in the day, to some of the hottest footwear being released to date. Of course judging a sneaker battle is all in good fun, it's about personal preference and what each individual likes.

Surprisingly also was the good amount of female sneaker enthusiasts on scene, which is great to see, the ladies have a fantastic shoe game, they rocked them on foot and displayed them as well *cough cough (@bevy_bevv

A special presentation from @SelfMadeSince89 to the TLK crew, custom pair of Jordan X's, which were designed with the city of Toronto in mind, city map/architectural structures  and nicknames were hand burned into the leather of the silhouette, salmon colored accents flow through out the shoe.

Bringing the day to a close, some on stage performances were conducted, beat boxing showcase, local artists dropping lyrical madness and of course the announcement of the sneaker battles winner! Which for the second year in a row went to the 'SneakerMisfits !!! Congrats!

#TorontoGotSole & #CanadaGotSole was represented in the best way! This was def not the typical low key event that we have seen in the past.

I was humbly ecstatic to see familiar faces as well as meeting folks that I have talked to via social media but never had the chance to chat face 2 face, of course meeting new people with the same passion was really nice.

Please click the image below, it will take you to the full gallery, cheers & enjoy some of my captures!

WDYWT \\ Li-Ning Yu Shuai VII Jose Calderon PE

Today I threw on something different, I was feeling cheeky since I was headed to a sneaker event. Wasn't in the mood for the typical swoosh or Jordan on my feet. So after scoping out the pile of kix, I decided that these Jose Calderon player exclusives when he was with the Raptors would do the trick just fine. & please keep an eye out this week for my write up about the event I attended, United We Sole! To all my fam that represented today, new faces I got to meet, Cheers to you all! Toronto Loves Kicks, you know we down like that! Salute!

Nike Kobe 8 System \\ Easter

Here is my other pair that I scooped up while on vacay, the Easter Kobe 8! showed these to wifey at Exclucity, all she said was 'love'em! how could I not buy'em haha! and with 40% off. That's simply called #TeamUnderRetail

As for the picture, well, I haven't had a chance to set up my mini studio in quite some time, this was the perfect occasion to do so! Change things up a bit.

Nike Kobe 8 System \\ Gradient Purple

Waiting for me in MTL courtesy of my pal Chris via Exclucity was this purple giant pair of Kobe 8 System Gradients. Man I've fallen for this shoe, just can't believe how the Kobe line keeps getting more and more comfortable. Since I already had them on hand, while at the cottage I snapped a few pics.

eye trickery \\ app vs CS5

It's probably not only myself that gets fooled with photos these day, seems like more and more people are using their iPhones to adjust/edit images, even when the images are taken straight out of dslr cameras and dropped into your iPhone, a few apps later, your creation is posted on line, shared with the world. My normal routine when it comes to photography is pretty simple like most photogs. All photos taken with my Canon get uploaded to my PC, than my CS5 software takes care of the rest, whether it be small edits or going all out with some crazy work. Seeing it big on my HD screens is something I prefer, never did I think to work on a full sized image via my iPhone and all those wonderful apps that are under our finger tips. Few fellow photogs I know have been doing this steadily for quite some time now, their work turning out beautifully. I decided to grab my amateur skills and try the same thing, taking a image of my Adidas ZX700's with my Canon 7D + Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens, uploading to my iphone5, seeing where this simple crop/color/contrast/sharpen edit takes me. This is what feedback I can provide on the subject. With the amount of photo processing apps that are available for free(or small cost) I have pretty much downloaded majority of them. Each app has something different to offer, but I did realize that most apps offer the same features(crop-color adjust-contrast-sharpening-filters etc...). I found it a tad awkward working on such a small screen (perhaps a ipad could solve that issue) but as for the final outcome, I am quite pleased. I also took the same image and did a very similar edit on my CS5 Adobe via PC. Personally it was still better to work on my PC, being able to see the image in full size even magnified to as much as you need is at most times a must.

However, I can truly say that I can see me doing more out of camera onto iPhone edits in the future. Now you be the judge, which image was done by iPhone & which one was done via CS5 Adobe on PC?
